Low mounding shrubs in exposed areas to open and spread- ing in understory, up to 3 m tall, most 2 m, twigs and petioles dull purple; woody twigs with reddish bark becoming grey, in age split lengthwise into atroressed fribulose sheets; frts immature, papillose, globose.
