Arctostaphylos nummularia A. Gray
ERICACEAE
Shrub 18in tall (some plants seen are were 4ft tall),
abundant, flowering plants rare, flowers pale pink to
white. Growing in a shrubby, semi-open savanna
which is very reminiscent of some such savannas and
pocosins in the southeastern United States, except drier.
Growing in loamy-clayey-sand (Shinglemill-Gibney
complex, 2 to 9 percent slopes; fine, mixed, semiactive
to active, isomesic Aquic to Typic Hapludults), with a
tussock-forming Carex sp., Cupressus pygmaea,
Gaultheria shallon, Myrica californica, Pinus contorta,
P. muricata, Rhododendron macrophyllum, Sequoia
sempervirens (rare) and Vaccinium ovatum. A few
hundred feet south of Caspar Little Lake Road and
about 2.9mi E. of the intersection with Rt. 1 (Shoreline
