Shrub, 1.5-2mx2-3cm diam., bark grey; young flush foliage with an orange tinge, mature leaves coriaceous, discolorous, dark green glossy above, paler dull green below; calyces green becoming dark red, corollas thick and waxy, lipstick- red, glossy, the lobes reflexed, staminal column orange.Locally common in bosque / ericaceous scrub.
