Nutibara, Nutibara-La Blanquita Rd., region of Murri, Alto de Rio Cuevas, ca. 10-22 km W of Nutibara; ca. 6°45'N, 76°20'W; 1220-2050 m; disturbed, premontane forest. Terrestrial shrub along steep roadcuts at ca. 2000 m. Mature leaves nitid above, oriented along stem but pointing back. Floral bracts dull reddish- green, strongly spreading and concave. Rachis & pedicels dull green suffused with red. Calyx green to dull red. Corolla dark orange (darker at base, lighter at lobes). Hummingbird visited. No odor of wintergreen. Berry turning bluish.
