Pictured Rocks Wildlife Management Area is owned by the Iowa DNR and approximately
3.5 miles east of Monticello. It is on the East-Central Iowa Drift Plain. Hamamelis
virainiana is infrequent at the upper end of a steep, northwest-facing slope above the
Maquoketa River and occurs in two places 1) within abdfrl meter of the base of an
approximately 10 meter high dolomite bluff 2) at the top of the bluff and vicinity. Acer

of the dolomite bluff. The collection comes from a genet with 3 ramets. The tallest ramet
is about 5 meters. The fruits are green and there are approximately 10 genets of
Hamamelis virainiana. ^Hamamelis virainiana is associated with Adiantum pedatum.
