8.9” W. Long. Section 36. South side of the Fox River,
approximately 500 feet south of the river margin, Fox,
west-southwest of Yorkville, east of Silver Springs State
Park. Elevation approximately 575-600 feet. Wet peaty
loam over gravelly glacial till; seepage slope; some tufa
(calcium carbonate) deposits.
Mesic upland forest at seep margin, shaded, with
Fraxinus quadrangulata, Impatiens capensis, Leersia
virginica, Symplocarpus foetidus, Tilia americana,
Ulmus rubra.
Fruits green, then pink, finally purple-black; scarce tree
approximately 6 meters tall and wide.
