Flora of Bolivia Family: Melastomataceae Rhynchanthera novemnervia (Martius) DC. Determined by: N. Ritter (NHA), 1998 Department of Beni Province of Cercado Laguna Suarez, approximately 5 km S.E. of the city of Trinidad. Elevation: ca. 160 meters. Shrub; ca. 1.5 meters tall. Growing in accumulated sediment on the floating mat. Only one individual noted. Stems with copious spongy tissue around the base. Corolla: magenta. Habitat: a large, marshy area dominated by a floating mat of Poaceae (Panicoideae). Location: S14°53'34" X W.64°53'18" June 19, 1996 # 3361 Collected by: Nur Ritter & Martha Ritter 02514336
