Lindern benzoin (L.) Plume
NEW YORK, SUFFOLK CO.: Huntington Station, in the Paumonek
Wetland, west of Walt Whitman High School. Growing on a wooded
slope of a small moraine hill. Stems and twigs emit a spicy scent when
scratched or broken. Growing in an Oak Hickory Woodland with Aralia
elata, Prunus, Erythronium americanum ssp. americanum, Eurybia
divaricata, Impatiens capensis, Acer rubrum, and Quercus.
