NEW YORK, SUFFOLK CO.: Huntington Station, in the Paumonek
Wetland, west of Walt Whitman High School. Close to the edge of the
woods, near the playing field and Paumonek Drive. Medium sized multi-
stemmed shrub, approx. 2.5 m tall. Stems and twigs emit a spicy scent
when scratched or broken. Dominant species in shrub layer. In an Oak-
Hickory Mesic Woodland with Carya, Alliaria petiolata, Quercus.
