  • Habitat

    Plants grwing among rocky slopes, in seeps on rock outcrops, and along stream margins. Montane hardwood-conifer habitat with Pinus ponderosa, Quercus chrysolepis, Arctostaphylos viscida, and Toxicodendron diversilobum. Associated species include Rhododendron columbianum, Calycanthus occidentalis, Philadelphus lewisii, Panicum acuminatum, and Woodwardia fimbriata.

  • Description

    Upright crown forming shrubs, individual or small rhizomatous patches, up to 5 ft. tall. Mature fruits dark blue to purple, waxy. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
