BENEWAH CO: St. Joe National Forest vie White Pine Drive NE of Potlatch. Moist, disturbed slope with slight N aspect, just N of dirt rd to East Dennis, ca % mile W of Hwy 6 (Alt 99 on USGS 151 topo map - Emida quad) at summit between Mannering Cr. and Emida, T43N R3W S14 se%, ele ca 3550'. Soil well-developed, derived from quartzite of the Belt Series. Common rhizo per beneath Acer glabrum and Betula papyrifera but more common in adjacent and relatively un- disturbed forest of Thuja plicata and Abies grandis. Flowers inconspic;bracts cream-white.
