Habitat
Short, dry forest and edge of large seasonally inundated marsh. With Acrocomia totai, cacti. On Quarternary alluvium and pre-Cambrian gneiss.

Description
Tree 8 m. tall, 15 cm. in diameter; trunk straight; bark smooth, yellow, powdery. Inflorescence erect, very showy, yellow; flowers probably visited by a hummingbird; petals slightly lighter yellow. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
