Bahamas: Great Abaco, 1.4 miles south along main road from
south entrance of Bahama Palm Shores, trun eastward along dirt
road for approx. .5 mile, coppice along ridge along paved
roadway. N26° 14.31’ W77° 10.033’
Pleopeltis was very abundant and found growing on many surfaces,
cacti, rock substrate, and live trees. This collection was taken from live
Piscidia piscipula (approx. 24” dhb) and the colony was growing from
the base of the tree upwards for approx. 24” and was 8” wide. The
coppice was dominated by Metopium, Piscidia, and Sideroxylon
foetidissimum but was in very bad condition due to recent Hurricane
events. The canopy was open and exposed. Many orchids and
Tillandsia were also present.
