Disturbed woods and edges with Acer saccharinum,
Robinia pseudoacacia, Ulmus americana, Platanus
occidentalis, Juglans nigra, the understory dominated by
Lonicera maackii.
Shrubs in loose clump, 2.5 m. tall; twigs bronzy; pith
brown. Nearly finished flowering, the flowers white.
