The New York Botanical Garden Woody Plants of U. S. A. CORNACBAE Cornus amomum Mill. Densely branched shrub 4 m. tall, forming a rounded mound 5 m. in diameter. Stems mostly green with red tinge, some reddish; pith tawny. Fruit abundant, maximum 1 cm. in diameter, usually part cream-colored, mostly or all metallic blue-green to blue; pulp juicy, white; seed green. Bottom of small valley with cultivated fields, on formerly sodded grassy water-run, in the last 15 years grown up to shrubs and trees, Ulmus americana, U. rubra, Pyrus joensis, Crataegus, Prunus americana.
