Carya ovata, on slopes along Hwy. 00 near the spring. T 9 N; R IE; SW-^NWi sect. 22. Shrub 5 m. tall, with several stems or sprouts from base. Inner bark with slight pleasantly aromatic odor, almost like that of wintergreen. Inflorescence branches green or red; fruit dark purple. Voucher for wood specimen MADw 47911.
