Leaves coriaceous, stiff, semi-shiny deep green above, lighter dull olive-green below. Bracts red-purple, pedicle white to pink, calyx bright pink, corolla tube white, filament white, anther base yellowish, above red-purple. Crushed flower has odor of methyl-salicilate (winter-green).
