    Growing in a low bottomland forest in wet, loamy soil (Garcon, Ochlockonee, and Ousley soils, occasionally flooded; loamy, siliceous, active, thermic, uncoated Aquic Arenic Hapludults; coarse-loamy, siliceous, active, acid, thermic Typic Udifluvents; thermic, uncoated Aquic Quartzipsamments). Growing with Cornus Foemina (?), Mikania scandens. Nyssa ogeche, Planera aquatica, Quercus laurifolia, Q. lyrata, Q. nigra, Sabel minor, Symplocus tinctoria, Taxodium distichum.
