Ilow-ers white and pink, or pinX, i" long in small, dense
heads, pendant and almost under 1b aves. Leaves oval-pointed to
l£" long rather upright along stems, dense tufts, grey, hairy.
Fruits flat, globular, fn across, dull yellow when ripe. Stems
jO>	to E'r through with smooth red bark, peeling as in Arbutus.
'./r	Spreading tangled bushes, with lower stems often bare, to 4 ft,
f	tall. ii/Very delightful and handsome species. (There is very
little seed available at this time, but I hope to secure a
good supply on a later visit to this mountain.) End seed
collected, Hacienda San Diego 12.10.1938. ll«000ft.
