Common Name Lignum Vitae. Lignum Whitey, Nigly Whitey
Description	Tree with characteristic 5 sided fruits. With age, fruits split to
display seeds with a bright red aril.
Location/IIabitat Greenwood Development, found at the juncture of the unpaved road dial
leads to Greenwood Beach Resort, and a trail/overgorwn road that is off
the road and runs south. Disturbed roadside low dry evergreen forest/
coppice.

Bark or roots are boiled and the decoction drunk to ease pain or bathed in
for arthritis. Often used in bush tea, which aids in fertility, gives one
Strength, acts as an aphrodisiac, etc. The wood is one of the strongest in
the Bahamas.
