The New York Botanical Garden Woody Plants of U. S. A. ACERACEAE Acer saccharum Marsh Tree 20 m. tall, 80 cm. in diameter. Leaves exposed to sun are very dark green above. Samaras green, the wing light, the seed portion darker, not quite mature. Young, ungrazed rocky woods on NW-facing slope near limestone quarry. Populus grandidentata, Carya ovata. Tilia americana, Ostrya virginiana, Prunus serotina. with Desmodium acuminatum, Phryma leptostachya, Aralia racemosa, Panax quinquefolia (rare, only one seen), Adiantum pedatum.
