Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge: N side of Eagle Mountain and
vicinity of The Narrows. T03N R14W section 28 SWVi. 34.69980°-
34.70002°N, 98.67162°-98.67664°W (±14-61 ft; det by GPS;
datum = WGS 84). Elevation ca 1400-1550 ft.
Tall cliffs and massive boulders of pink granite along primarily NW-
SE-trending ravine above Cache Creek with scrubby forest
dominated by Carya texana, Juniperus virginiana, Quercus
marilandica, Quercus stellata and Sideroxylon lanuginosum, with
Acer saccharum becoming common in sheltered N-facing ravines,
Celtis reticulata scattered on exposed slopes, and Cephalanthus
occidentalis, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, and Ulmus common along
creek. Soil gravelly.
Locally common in mesic ravine sheltered by tall, N-facing cliff.
