Acer rubrum L.
NEW YORK, SUFFOLK CO.: Huntington Station, in the Paumonek
Wetland, west of Walt Whitman High School. Large tree to approx. 12
m tall. Growing next to a Phragmites wetland/patch. Water seeps up
when soil is stepped on. Growing in an Oak-Hickory Mesic Woodland
with Phragmites australis ssp. australis, Lindera benzoin, Rosa
multiflora, Clethra alnifolia, Aster, Salix, and Prunus.
