Flora of the Paumonek Wetland, Long Island
Acer rubrum L.
NEW YORK, SUFFOLK CO.: Huntington Station, in the Paumonek
Wetland, west of Walt Whitman High School, approx. 14.5 m northeast
of Paumonek Road. Large canopy tree, approx. 15.2 m tall. All visible
flowers on tree are female. Growing in an Oak-Hickory Mesic
Woodland with Lindera benzoin, Rosa multiflora, Lonicera japonica,
Viburnum acerifolium, Eurybia divaricata, Prunus, and Robinia
pseudoacacia.
