Thicket-forming shrub 10ft tall, occasional.
Growing at the edge of a young woodland in a
relatively level spot in rocky & gravelly loam
(Totelake gravelly loam, 2-8% slopes; sandy-
skeletal, mixed, frigid Typic Haplustepts).
Growing with Achillea millefolium, Amelanchier
alnifolia var. cusickii, Centaurea sp., Dactylis
glomerata, Medicago lupulina, Phleum pratense,
Picea engelmannii, Pinus contorta, Pseudotsuga
menziesii & Symphoricatpos albus. At the
intersection of Grant Creek Road & Bench Road,
about 4.65mi NE of the intersection with Interstate
90 & around 6 air-miles N. of Missoula. Missoula
