IDAHO; Shoshone Co., 7.5 miles east of Avery along St. Joe River Rd., St. Joe National Forest; 2,400 ft., 5-20% slope, southern exposure, soil mica/ schists decomposed; mixed shrub community along fringe of river; occasional with Crataegus douglasii var. suksdorfii, Cornus stolonifera, Rhamnus purshiana and Betula occidentalis; height 2-3 meters.
