Woody Plants of U.S.A.: WISCONSIN: RichUnd County BETULACEAE Corylus americana Walt. Shrubs to 2 m. tall. Bracts of fruit light green, usually partly with a reddish tinge, slightly viscid. These plants growing in full sun and fruits common; about 100 m. from another population collected in flower on March 28, 1976 (Nee 14494) but those plants growing in partial shade and producing no fruit although quite healthy. Common in remnant brushy prairie along railroad through bottomlands of Pine River valley, with Sorghastrum nutans, Andropogon gerardii, sprouts of Quercus macro- carpa. 3 miles southeast of RICHLAND CENTER.
