Dear Sir!
I take the liberty of enclosing a plant specimen, which I will be very
grateful for the name of.
I sent an example of this to Mr. Pollard in Washington some years ago,
and he advised that he thought it was Rubas odoratus, with a question mark.
As it does not agree at all with the description of this species in Dr. Britton's
work, I will thank you for either confirmation or the right name. It looks to
me more like one of the species of alder, but the seed pods are more slender
than any shown in Britton* s Botany.
