    Forest on relatively level terrain behind levee, flooded supra-annually. Canopy discontinuous in places, understory with high density of Heliconia and Marantaceae.

    Terrestrial herb, inflorescences erect, bracts dark green, flowers white tinged with violet. Occurring in dense populations. Few fertile.
