NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN OS 'n c\ Ada Hayden Herbarium Iowa State University Flora of Iowa Heteranthera limosa (Sw.) Wllld. Warren County: T77N R22W Section 27 NE4 NE4 SW4 SE4 A corn field occurs on Red Rock Reservoir property, which is owned by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (this portion is managed by the Iowa DNR). It is approximately 1.7 miles southeast of Hartford. There were heavy spring rains and so corn did not grow in low areas within the field. This site is on the Southern Iowa Drift Plain. 2000+ Heteranthera limosa occur in an open, shallow, moist basin in the corn field. Most plants have light purple/blue corollas, while a few have white corollas. There are bare soil areas between plants. Heteranthera limosa is associated with Ammannia coccinea. Heteranthera limosa has been previously collected from these Iowa counties: Fremont (1888), Lyon (1954) and Muscatine (1894). Mark J. Leoschke 2502 Jeff Joens Chuck Kakac August 24, 2004 Collected for the Wildlife Bureau, Iowa Department of Natural Resources 02479269
