Habitat
Growing in mucky soil in a recharge basin; periodically inundated. With Acer rubrum, Liquidambar styraciflua, Fraxinus pennsylvanicus, Acer saccharinum, Platanus occidentalis, Onoclea sensibilis, and Osmunda regalis var. spectabilis.

Description
Large multistemmed tree (3 stems) to 30 ft. Older bark orange-brown and scabby; younger bark creamy and peeling in small sheets. In fruit. Population of 20 individuals. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
