Shrub zone, at edge of wet meadow in
spruce park; valley at 6700 ft.
On low hummocky ground between shrubs
and in disturbed soil along road.
With dominants: Potentilla fruticosa,
Salix barrattiana, S. glauca, Betula
pumila; also Kalmia, Picea, Hedysarum,
Pedicularis groenlandica, Solidago, Des-
champsia caespitosa, Helictotrichon,
Carex.
Spreading shrub to 2/3 m tall.
