Description
Although Chloris verticillata seems to be a relatively new arrival in our area it seems to occur at high densities (though localized) in suitable sites and in flower at this time of year. I found detached dry whole inflorescences of this species, evidently blown by the wind, at a few nearby sites where the plants seemed to be absent. This tendency for the inflorescences to break off and get blown by the wind and tumble to new areas must contribute to the spread of the species in our area. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
