In a bald-cypress swamp forest in brown/black, wet organic muck (unusually dry this year; Manahawkin muck; Sandy or sandy-skeletal, siliceous, dysic, mesic Terric Haplosaprists). Growing with Acer rubrum, Bidens laevis, Boehmeria cylindrica, Calamagrostis sp., Cephalanthus occidentalis, Cuscuta compacta, Decodon verticillatus, Fraxinus pensylvanica (rare), Hydrocotyle umbellata (?), Ilex verticillata, Impatiens capensis, Itea virginica, Leersia lenticularis (rare), Liquidambar styraciflua (rare), Lycopus sp., Mikania scandens, Myrica cerifera, Nuphar lutea, Onoclea sensibilis, Pilea sp., Polygonum punctatum, P. sagittatum, Potamogeton sp., Rosa palustris, Salix nigra, Saururus cernuus, Smilax rotundifolia, Taxodium distichum, Triadenum walteri, Typha latifolia & Woodwardia virginica. Along the E. side of Rt. 113, to the NE side of Purnell Branch, about 0.75mi N. of the intersection with Rt. 365 (Public Landing Road). Worcester Co.
