The New York Botanical Garden Plants of U.S.A. Betulaceae Alnus incana (L.) Moench (=Alnus rugosa), det. M. Nee, 1993 Wisconsin, Richland Co., 3 miles SE of Richland Center. T 10 N; R 1 E; SE^NEi 35. Low areas in Pine River flood plain, old field with invasion of Alnus incana (=rugosa). Acer saccharin um. Shrubs to 5 m. tall, 6 cm. in diameter, in loose clumps of several stems; bark smooth, with prominent horizontal lenticels. "Fruit" green. Voucher for bulk medicinal screening by Pfizer: 43690a WS (Nee-314); 43690b BS (Nee-315); 43690c LF+TW+IF (Nee-316). Coll.: M. Nee 43690 8 Aug. 1993 02471927
