Richland Center. S-facing pasture slope, somewhat sandy,
being invaded by Robinia pseudoacacia, Zanthoxylum
americanum, Juniperus virginiana, Rosa multiflora.
T 10 N; R 1 E; NWViNWtt sect. 36.
43°18’26”N, 90°19’43”W. alt. 255 m.
Young tree 12 m. tall, 15 cm. in diameter, 8 years old;
heartwood much darker brown than the sapwood; freshly
cut wood with an unpleasant sour odor. Voucher for wood
specimen, MADw. Fruit light yellow-green, not abundant
except on the uppermost unshaded branches.
