Flowers light violet, banner petal yellow at
center surrounded by deep purple and vio-
let.
Location: From the banks of the Winikina
River at the confluence with the Yaruara
tributary just north of the village of Mori-
chito in Delta Amacuro State, Venezuela.
Use: Temporary hearths. The roots of this
aquatic plant are placed in canoes to allow
for the transportation of embers.
