This portion of the Shimek State Forest is approximately 2.5 miles
west/northwest of Argyle. The forest is on the Southern Iowa Drift Plain.
Viburnum prunifolium is infrequent to locally common over several acres. It
appears to be more common on hilltops and upper slopes. The corollas are
white and the ramets are up to 4.0 meters tall. The collection site is on a
moderate, northwest-facing slope dominated by Quercus alba. Viburnum
prunifolium is associated with Carex pensvlvanica. Carva cordiformis Carva
ovata. Clavtonia virginica. Dicentra cucullaria. Parthenocissus quinauefolia
Polvstichum acrostichoides and Sanauinaria canadensis.
