Viburnum prunifolium L.
Lee County: T68N R7W Section 32 NE4 SE4 NW4 NE4
UTM (NAD83,15T): 611217 East, 4500904 North
This portion of the Shimek State Forest (owned by the Iowa DNR) is
approximately 6 miles west of Donnellson. The collection site is on a south-
facing, moderate slope locally dominated by Quercus alba. Shimek State
Forest is on the Southern Iowa Drift Plain.
Viburnum prunifolium is infrequent and local. The corollas are white and few;
young, small green fruits are more common. Heavy rain this morning may
have knocked off some of the corollas. Viburnum prunifolium is associated
with Carva ovata. Dentaria laciniata. Ervthronium albidum, Parthenocissus
quinauefolia. Prunus virainiana. Quercus borealis (seedling) and Rhus
aromatica.
