Viburnum prunifolium L.
Van Buren County: T68N R10W Section 4 NW4 NE4 SW4 NE4
UTM (NAD83, 15T): 583366 East, 4508299 North
A forest locally dominated by Quercus borealis, with a few Quercus alba, is
approximately 2 miles west/southwest of Keosauqua. The collection site is on
a moderate, west/northwest-facing slope above a small drainageway. The
forest is on the Southern Iowa Drift Plain.
Viburnum prunifolium appears to be locally common and most genets are less
than 1.3 meters tall. Only one genet appears to have flowers, the rest are
vegetative. The genet with flowers (corollas white) appears to be at about
peak bloom. Viburnum prunifolium is associated with Clavtonia virainica.
Dentaria laciniata. Dicentra cu cullaria. Ervthronium albidum. Parthenocissus
guinouefolia and Rhus aromatica.
