Floodplain of Pine River, with Zanthoxylum americanum,
Prunus virginiana, V serotina, and scattered large old
Quercus macrocarpa.
Several arching stems branching from a larger base, 4.5 m.
tall, the largest stems 8.5 cm in diameter; crown densely
twiggy. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw. Bark pale
tan, longitudinally finely furrowed and somewhat stringy.
Corolla white, fading a very pale dull yellow, the falling
flowers a much darker dull yellow. Abundant here and with
other individuals all along the spectrum from white (fading
yellow, i.e. L. morrowii) to deep pink (not fading yellow,
i.e. L. tataricd).
