Nee, 2010 NEW YORK State, Bronx Co., Bronx, between Kazimiroff Drive and Metro North railroad line, just N of junction with Mosholu Parkway. Brushy, weedy strip of woodland, with the understory dominated by Lonicera maackii. On the other side of the road from the New York Botanical Garden where this species is a serious invasive in the brushy areas and understory of woodlands. 40°52’07”N, 73°52’43”W. alt. 21 m. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw. Shrub 5 m. tall, with several stems from near the base, the largest 9 cm. in diameter, all but the innermost rings of wood turning light greenish within a day of being cut; bark shallowly flaky-furrowed. Branches arching. Leaves more or less held horizontally, the fruit held above; fruit green, many dull reddish on the insolated side (although plants growing in shade), a few beginning to turn bright red, soft and juicy and swelling up to become more globose.
