The former Julian A. Steyermark property on
hilly Valparaiso moraine, the original
forest of Quercus alba, rubra, (}. macro-
carpa, el 1ipsoidalis, Ti1ia americana,
Acer saccharum, Prunus serotina, U1mus
rubra, Carya ovata. From 1941-1958 a large
number of herbs, shrubs and trees, many from
Missouri, were introduced by J.A. Steyermark;
essentially untended since 1958 but many
still persisting (Neviusia alabamensis,
Cornus florida, Asimina triloba, etc.)

Shrub 2.5 m. tall, along road. Buds pink;
corolla pale pink when opening, developing a
slight yellowish cast as it ages and fades.
