Field Char. Large and extensive rattan, to 20 m above ground,
stem thick; inflorescences grass-green, to 3 m long,
pendulous and widespreading. All parts of the plant
are covered with sharp spines. Leaves from base to tip
of'tail' 3-4 m long. Common.
Locality: Vietnam, Ninh Binh Province, Nho Quan District.
Habitat: Cue Phuong National Park. Slope northeast of Bong.
Tall primary forest on a slope with thick soil cover and occasional
exposed limestone rock. 400-480 m altitude.
