Thua Thien-Hue Province: A Luoi District, Sao La Nature Reserve, undisturbed forest by river margin, on steep slopes, non- limestone area, 16.077 N, 107.488 E, 892 m elevation. 7 Mar 2009. Calamus “may song” Stems clustered, to 5 m tall and 1.5 cm diameter (with sheaths). Sheaths mottled brown with numerous, straight spines; ocreas very short; knee present; petioles 19 cm long; rachis 80 cm long with 13 irregularly arranged, linear-lanceolate pinnae borne in remote clusters of 1-2; cirri present. Inflorescences short erect; staminate flowers present, also pistillate flowers. A. Henderson, Bui Van Thanh, & Phan Thanh Ha 3534 Field work carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Hanoi, and funded by the National Geographic Society, USA.
