PALMS OF VIETNAM

National Park, road from Da Lat to Dac Lac, montane forest,
12°11’N, 108°22’E, 1200 m elevation. 1 June 2007.
Calamus palustris Griff.
Stems clustered, 10 m long, 2 cm diameter with sheaths. Sheaths
green with whitish-brown tomentum, with scattered spines; knees
swollen; ocreas short; petioles 15 cm long; rachis 163 cm long with
20 pinnae per side, these in remote groups of 2-3 pinnae, spreading
in different planes; cirri 90 cm long. Sterile plant.
