Brown property, 1 mile W of Bethlehem, along Weekeepeemee River. Second growth forest on former farmland on rocky, slightly hilly terrain. Betula allegheniensis, B. lenta, Quercus alba, Ouercus spp., Acer rubrum, A. saccharum. Carpinus caroliniana, Pinus strobus. Tsuga canadensis, etc. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw 47530. Shrub with numerous arching stems in a loose clump, to 4 m. tall; bark light tan, papery- flaking. Fruit immature. Coll.: M. Nee & J. L. Brown 43593 7 July 1993 02435289
