New York: Bronx Co., Bronx, cultivated at the New
York Botanical Garden.
Shrubs, several arching stems in a clump, to 2.5 m.
tall. Calyx dull reddish. Flowres lightly fragrant;
corolla very pale pinkish violet, nearly white, visited
by bumblebees and honeybees which seem to be
robbing nectar by penetrating the base of the
corolla tube from the outside; neither of these bees
enters the corolla nor makes contact with the
anthers. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw 46985.
