Habitat
In dense over-crowded thickets of Arctostaphylos sp., many dead matrue trees in area.

Description
Dead, burned, mature tree, ca. 20 feet tall, many burned, opened cones at top of tree, cones empty of seed; dense vegetation choking-out few live seedlings of C. forbesii seen, population in danger of certain extinction. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
