Provincia Baoruco: Sierra de Neiba. Sabana del Silencio (disturbed valley, covered with
Danthonia. Area apparently was once a pine forest. First site (base camp). 2201 m. 018°39'07"N
071°33'26"W.
Hillsides covered with broad-leaved forest, understory with Arthrostylidium. Rubus. and
numerous ferns, epiphytes and Usnea. Shrub 1 in tall: flowers ascending; calyx green; corolla red.
yellow at tube, with dark spots on throat; anthers white.
